Privacy Policy

Effective September 27, 2026

The short version: we don't collect your data. Divisadero has no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking, and it doesn't send your writing to us or to anyone else. Your work stays on your Mac and, unless you turn sync off, in your own iCloud account. This website doesn't use cookies or analytics either.

Who we are

The Little Guy Company ("we", "us") is a small software company in San Francisco. This policy covers our Mac app, Divisadero, and this website, thelittleguy.company.

Divisadero

Divisadero is built so that we never need your information to make it work. It has no sign-in, and it contains no third-party code: no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs.

Your writing stays on your Mac

Everything you write, and everything you use to organize it, is stored on your Mac inside Divisadero's app container:

~/Library/Containers/company.thelittleguy.divisadero/

That includes your library, your version history, and the automatic backups Divisadero keeps of your library (the last 12 hourly, 7 daily and 26 weekly copies, rotated automatically). We can't see any of it.

iCloud sync

Divisadero can keep your library in sync across your devices using Apple's iCloud. Sync is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Divisadero › Settings › Backup & Sync.

When sync is on, your library is stored in the private database of your iCloud account. It's covered by your agreement with Apple and Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it, and there is no server of ours in between.

To keep sync reliable, Divisadero stores two small pieces of information alongside your library in your iCloud account: your Mac's name, which labels copies made when the same sheet is edited on two devices at once, and a random identifier created when you install the app. Neither is sent to us.

Diagnostics and feedback

Divisadero uses Apple's MetricKit to record crash, hang and performance diagnostics on your Mac. These reports never include your writing. They're stored only on your Mac, aren't synced to iCloud, and are never sent automatically. You can discard them at any time.

If you choose Help › Send Feedback…, Divisadero saves a report file on your Mac for you to email to us yourself. Nothing is sent until you do. The report contains:

  • the note you write;
  • the app's version and build, your macOS version, and your Mac's model identifier (for example, Mac15,3) and processor type;
  • any diagnostics you choose to include.

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may also share crash reports and usage statistics with us. Apple collects and anonymizes that data under its own policy, and you can turn it off there.

No AI, analytics, advertising or tracking

Divisadero doesn't send your writing to any AI service, and it turns off macOS's Writing Tools in its editor. We don't track you across apps or websites, we don't show ads, and we don't sell or share personal information.

Files you open and export

Divisadero reads and writes files on your Mac only when you pick them: when you import, export, print or share. It doesn't keep access to them afterward.

Purchases

Divisadero is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles every purchase and never shares your name, Apple Account or payment details with us. We receive only aggregate sales reports.

This website

thelittleguy.company is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or trackers, embeds nothing from other companies, and loads its fonts and images from this same site.

If you use the theme picker at the bottom of the page, your choice is saved in your own browser's local storage and never sent anywhere.

The site is hosted by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may log technical information such as your IP address to deliver and secure the site. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.

When you email us

If you email us, including when you send a feedback report, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to reply and to fix problems, keep it only as long as that takes, and will delete it if you ask.

Children

Divisadero and this website aren't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your choices and rights

Because we don't collect personal information through Divisadero or this website, there is usually nothing of yours for us to access, correct or delete. If you've emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence, wherever you live.

  • Turn off sync: Divisadero › Settings › Backup & Sync.
  • Delete data from iCloud: Divisadero's iCloud data is part of your iCloud storage, which you manage from your Apple Account settings.
  • Delete data from your Mac: delete the app, then delete ~/Library/Containers/company.thelittleguy.divisadero/. This removes everything Divisadero has stored on that Mac, including backups and diagnostics.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a future version of Divisadero would handle your information differently, for example a feature that needs a server, we'll update this policy before that version ships.
