Divisadero
A writing app for professional formats.
Write prose, screenplays and stage plays, then send them out as the files those trades actually use: Word, PDF, Final Draft and more.
Divisadero is in alpha testing now. For macOS 15 Sequoia and later.
What it does
-
Three formats, done properly
Prose, screenplay and stage play, each held to its trade's conventions. Novels, nonfiction, essays, academic papers and blogs are all prose projects.
-
Sheets, not files
A sheet is a page that grows. Type first; decide what it is later. File sheets into groups and projects when you're ready, or never.
-
Send it anywhere
Export to PDF, Word, Final Draft, Fountain, Markdown, HTML, LaTeX and EPUB, with a live preview and presets like Submission Manuscript.
-
Bring what you have
Import Word, Final Draft, Fountain, Markdown, RTF and plain text with styling intact. Drop in a folder and it becomes a group.
-
Screenplays, ready for production
Pagination that matches Final Draft, dual dialogue, locked pages, scene numbers and colored revision sets.
-
Stage plays, too
Modern stage-play format with a cover page and cast page, and blind submission exports.
-
Universes
Keep one series bible of characters, places and lore, shared across every project set in that world.
-
Goals that do the math
Set a word goal and a deadline, and Divisadero works out a daily quota to get you there.
-
A real safety net
Version history, automatic hourly, daily and weekly backups, and sync conflicts saved as versions, never dropped.
-
Twelve themes
Light and dark themes named after writers, from Beckett to Woolf, with curated type for long sessions.
